Virtual Equipment Consultations
Houghton Horns is pleased to Offer Free Equipment consultations to players of all levels.
Brass players are often curious as to whether they are in need of a change in equipment, whether that be a new mouthpiece to help with the high register, a new leadpipe to help with intonation, or a new horn to make playing easier. It can often be difficult to make these decisions without extensive experience with the many varieties of equipment available on the market. This leads to purchases that don’t properly address the player’s concerns and an endless journey to find the “perfect” setup. This is where we can help. With our many years of experience with almost every instrument and mouthpiece ever made we can point you in the right direction, be it that is a new instrument, a new mouthpiece, or nothing at all. These consultations are completely free, with no obligation or pressure to buy anything, EVER.
How to set up a consultation
Consultations are available to anyone who is curious about their equipment. There is no obligation to purchase anything, nor will there be pressure to do so. The preliminary consultation will last 30 minutes and will be conducted over Zoom. We encourage you to invite your private instructor if desired. You can use the form at the bottom of this page to schedule your consultation. Just choose “Virtual Equipment Consultation” in the “Service” dropdown menu and provide your name and email address. That’s it!
Our mission is to spread the joy of music through providing the highest level of products, services and resources to the brass playing community.
What happens if I purchase an instrument?
All customers who purchase an instrument can schedule up to two additional 30-minute consultations to help them adjust to their new equipment. We can provide all of the help you need regarding setup and tips to ensure you are getting the most out of your instrument. Remember, we offer a 15 day money-back guarantee, free shipping, and free returns on most new instruments, so there is minimal risk to giving one a try!
Is it possible to truly evaluate an instrument virutally?
YES! We can hear all of the important aspects of an instrument’s effect on your playing via a virtual visit. Articulation, intonation, and the key aspects of a healthy tone can be ascertained as long as both parties have a good internet connection.
