A custom sackbut in the key of Bb, this Meinl & Lauber sackbut was handmade in Bavaria.  The sackbut is an early form of the trombone used in Renaissance music.  The name comes from the French "trompette saicqueboute", or "pull-push trumpet."

Bernhard Meinl has provided the following information about this sackbut:

This “baroque trombone” is a replica of an original instrument by Sebastian Hainlein I, who worked in Nuremberg from 1591-1631.

The original instrument, which was built in 1627, is now in the Bavarian National Museum in Munich.
