Description
This Geyer Schmidt is a great find! It features an Engelbert Schmid-compatible bell ring and valve rebuild performed by Ron Pinc in 2008.
According to Milan Yancich in his 1983 article in the International Horn Society’s The Horn Call XIV no.1, Mr. Geyer believed the Schmidt horn to be the best designed horn ever made, in part due to the curve of the lead pipe through the B-flat valve.
This horn lends itself to smooth slurs and has a beautiful, sweet sound. Ergonomically, the piston thumb may provide an adjustment to some players who are used to a traditional lever. However, a simple addition of a flipper, hand guard, or visit with the experts in our repair shop can help maximize efficiency.
