48 Continental U.S. States

1. New instruments and accessories

New instrument and instrument accessory purchases above $25 will receive free outgoing shipping to 48 U.S. states. (Excludes Thein instruments, tubas, and other large, bulky instruments). Unless the customer specifies otherwise at checkout, we generally ship small accessories such as mouthpieces or oils through USPS First Class Mail; we generally ship instruments and cases through UPS Ground with signature required. The choice of shipping method for free shipping promotions is left to our discretion.

Most purchases receive a 15-day return period. Click Request a Return at the bottom of our website to start the return process. Outgoing and return shipping charges will be deducted from your refund, except in the case of new instruments. New French horns, trumpets, and trombones which qualify for the 15-day return period will receive free returns from the 48 contiguous U.S. states.

There will be a $5 cleaning fee for a returned mouthpiece. If an item is returned damaged, scratched, or stained, it may also incur an additional restocking fee.

Consumables and hygiene products, such as clothing, leather products, oils, face masks, and bell covers, are not eligible for return. The sale is final, no refunds or exchanges.

2. Sheet music and print

Sheet music and print shipments are not eligible for free shipping promotions. They are not eligible for returns. The sale is final, no refunds or exchanges.

3. Pre-owned instruments

Pre-owned instruments are not eligible for free shipping promotions. The customer must pay outgoing and return shipping. They are eligible for a 15-day return period. If an instrument is returned damaged, scratched, or dented, it may incur an additional restocking fee. Click Request a Return at the bottom of our website to start the return process.

4. Special orders, custom orders, and upgrades

Special orders products do not receive a return period. Products that have been customized or upgraded by the repair shop do not receive a return period. The sale is final, no refunds or exchanges.

5. Thein instruments

Thein instruments are not eligible for the free shipping policy. Customer must pay outgoing and return shipping. They are eligible for the 15-day return period.

6. Tubas and similarly large, bulky instruments

We offer a $199 shipping option for tubas and instruments of comparable size. They are not eligible for the free shipping or return policies.

 

 

Alaska and Hawaii

Customers must pay outgoing and return shipping.

They will receive the same return period as products sold in the US, where eligible: 15 days for most products. See the policy links at the bottom of our website for exceptions. The $5 cleaning fee for mouthpieces also applies.

Government Institutions

1. U.S. Military Addresses

We try our best to provide free shipping to our armed forces. For large objects such as trombones or tubas there may be size restrictions on UPS deliveries to your base that require us to make alternative paid shipping arrangements. We will contact you if there is an issue with the standard UPS free shipping option.

2. Schools, Universities, and Other Government and Non-Profit Institutions

We try our best to provide free shipping to schools and other non-profit institutions. If your address is not accessible via USPS or UPS at normal rates, or if your order is under $25, we may have to contact you to work out alternative paid shipping options. If you live within a few hours of the DFW area, we can also deliver large orders in person.

International Orders

International customers must pay outgoing and return shipping.

International orders will receive the same return period as products sold in the US, as described above: 15 days for most products. See the policy links at the bottom of our website for exceptions. The $5 cleaning fee for mouthpieces also applies.

For non-US customers, shipping, taxes, duties, and customs fees are non-refundable. In addition, if Houghton Horns is charged any import taxes, duties, or customs on the return for any reason, these will be deducted from the refund as well. In our experience the customer is frequently charged import duties and taxes both ways.
