Each consignment horn that we sell is thoroughly tested by our staff to ensure that you are receiving a quality product. These are the thoughts that were shared by our staff:

This horn has reached 100 years old, and plays very well for its age! It received a valve overhaul by Chris Reddick of Houghton Custom Horns, and the rotor compression is excellent for many more years of use. A new leadpipe was handmade to the original tapers, in nickel silver to prevent "red rot" or corrosion. The make life with the horn easier, a Durk flipper or "duck's foot" was installed, and the bell was converted to detachable with an Alexander threaded ring. The engraving is fully intact on the flare, and is still very crisp versus other examples. The instrument has not been buffed to preserve as much original metal as possible.
With historic horns of this vintage, it has picked up some well-placed patches along the way, and has some minor dings and signs of repair. We noted that the F main tuning slide fits loose, so using heavy slide grease can improve the overall compression to 1-2. The slide legs are seamed construction so they cannot be expanded to effectively tighten this fitment.
We recommend only being serviced by a shop or technician you trust.
