Marcus Bonna mutes are handcrafted in Brazil.
By default, both the black fiberglass and the wooden/cardboard Rittich-style mutes come with a Marajoara design engraved on the base. The Marajoara people are part of the pre-Columbian era, along with the Incas, Mayans, and Aztecs. They occupied part of the Brazilian territory that today corresponds to the Amazon. Marajoara art includes many ceramic artifacts which highlight their great detail and skill. Marcus Bonna, growing up in the small riverside village of Icoarci, incorporates this design into his mutes.
