The latest addition to our Verus mouthpiece collection: the JSV 1 and JSV 2 tenor trombone mouthpieces!
This project was the result of a collaboration with renowned artist John Sebastian Vera, Principal Trombone of the Pittsburgh Opera and River City Brass Band, professor at Duquesne University and the Cleveland Institute of Music, and founder of the Trombone Retreat.

The Concept.
With a design that is both classic and modern, Verus JSV Signature tenor trombone mouthpieces give life to a true tenor voice with purity of sound, lightning response, and clarity of articulation. Amid a steady trend toward heavier mouthpieces in recent years, the lighter and leaner JSV models aim to preserve depth of sound and rich overtones, with sweetness and ring throughout the entire dynamic spectrum.
Something for Everyone.
Available in two distinct variants, the JSV 1 and JSV 2 models are identical in rim and cup depth. The JSV 1 is excellent for all solo, chamber, and orchestral applications. The JSV 2 has a larger and heavier external cup profile, which many players will value for specific repertoire and acoustics. The weight adds even more fundamental, core and warmth to the sound. Having both models on-hand can give any player security to cover the full range of repertoire with a sense of purpose, balance, and adaptability.
Clocking.
The classic Verus logo was added at the base of the shank for clocking purposes, allowing for precision and consistency in mouthpiece placement and adjustment.
The Style.
An ultra-smooth polished rim gives way to a bead-tempered cup with a frosted texture that manages to appear both dramatic and understated. The contrasting brass shank is brushed for texture and left raw for maximum resonance.
Unique Batch Engravings.
Each batch of JSV mouthpieces produced will have a unique laser-engraved symbol. This aids in cataloguing each batch, and adds a value and scarcity element to the product. The symbol that Sebastian has chosen for the first limited release batch is the “Infinity Plus” logo, which alludes to a handwritten family signature on notes and letters.
