About Greg Black Mouthpieces

Greg Black has been making mouthpieces since 1985, carrying on the traditions of the great New York City mouthpiece makers. Today he and partner Benjamin Strickland run the shop in Mount Holly, North Carolina, where every mouthpiece is handmade. You'll find Greg Black mouthpieces in orchestras, Broadway pits, recording studios, and schools around the world.

The Lone Star

The Lone Star started as a custom order and is now a stock model. It's built on a special blank that falls between light and regular weight, giving bass trombonists who like a larger diameter a different resonance and response, along with an open backbore. It shares the extra large diameter of the 0G, a size mostly played by advanced college players and professionals.
