About Greg Black Mouthpieces
Greg Black has been making mouthpieces since 1985, carrying on the traditions of the great New York City mouthpiece makers. Today he and partner Benjamin Strickland run the shop in Mount Holly, North Carolina, where every mouthpiece is handmade. You'll find Greg Black mouthpieces in orchestras, Broadway pits, recording studios, and schools around the world.
Small Bore Tenor Mouthpieces
Greg Black's small bore tenor line pairs a medium shallow cup with a medium wide rim. They work well on small bore tenor and can also be used on alto trombone.
9C Specs
- Cup diameter: 24.85mm (.977")
- Cup depth: Medium shallow
- Rim width: Medium wide
- Bore: '#1' (.228")
- Shank: Small (tenor)
- Weight: Light. Heavier mouthpieces slot more firmly, while lighter ones give you more flexibility in slotting and dynamic control. Light is a great all-around choice, and heavier weights tend to be preferred for orchestral work or the extremes of very soft and very loud playing.
