When Brian Hecht joined the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, he faced a new challenge: a different acoustic environment that demanded a new level of sonic balance. Even for a player of Brian's caliber, a change in "the room" requires a change in gear. Brian returned to the Griego Mouthpieces shop in Delavan, WI, for three days of intensive testing. The goal was simple but ambitious: retain the legendary power of his original line while achieving a perfect balance of overtones, response, and blend.

What’s New?

Griego didn’t just tweak the original—they evolved it. Through rigorous feedback from Brian’s personal performance experience and market insights, they've refined every detail:

• The Classic NY Blank: By moving to the iconic NY blank, they've captured a profound depth of sound and a harmonic richness that allows you to anchor the section without overwhelming it.
• The Reimagined Rim: They've increased the surface area of the rim for a more comfortable, secure feel. This design provides the stability needed for long rehearsals and demanding performances.
• Precision Throat (.310”): The throat has been brought in to .310”, resulting in a cleaner response and more efficient blow. You get more sound for less work.
• Controlled Overtones: They've smoothed out the upper partials, ensuring your sound remains dark and massive while blending perfectly within the orchestral texture.

A Legacy Continued

While this new line represents the current pinnacle of Brian’s equipment setup, Griego hasn't forgotten where they started. The Original Hecht Models will remain available as a custom order once current stock is sold.

Most products sold in the United States receive a 15-day return policy that starts on the day the customer receives their order. The customer is responsible for the cost of initial and return shipping, except in the case of new French horns, trumpets, and trombones, which will receive free return shipping from 48 US states. There will be a $5 cleaning fee for each returned mouthpiece.

Some product categories are ineligible for return, which include special orders, sheet music, consumables such as lubricants or cleaning snakes, and personal items such as clothing or face masks.

Unfortunately, as of May 12, 2025, we can no longer offer returns, exchanges, or refunds to international customers due to the tariff situation. We hope to restore international returns soon.
