The Marcus Bonna Wooden Straight Mute for French Horn is a tunable, Rittich-style mute with wood-and-cardboard construction. Despite the product name, it is not a solid-wood mute. It is intended for passages that call for a straight mute, rather than as a substitute for a dedicated practice mute or stopping mute.
Handcrafted in Brazil, the mute features the Marajoara-inspired design engraved on the base on this model. A polyester carrying bag with a cord closure is included, keeping the mute together with its own storage pouch between rehearsals and performances.
Because response and intonation depend on both the horn and the player, try the mute with your instrument and allow time to adjust the tuning before a performance. Choose the construction and fit for your playing needs rather than assuming that different mute materials will behave identically.
