For einsetzen players (setting into the bottom lip): A smaller inner diameter often works well, unless the upper lip is particularly large (which may necessitate a larger size).

For ansetzen players (setting slightly under the bottom lip): A rim size of 17.75mm or larger is usually more comfortable. 

The goal is to find a diameter that suits the player’s embouchure, allowing enough lip inside the rim to vibrate and move air efficiently. An ill-fitting rim—too small or too large—can hinder flexibility, endurance, and tone quality.
