  • Mechanical Linkage
  • Detachable Bell
  • Unlacquered Finish

Handmade in a workshop in Germany. Incredibly light and responsive, the Finke Europa produces a full and rich tone. Made with innovative composite rotors, known for their feather-light and immediate action, this horn is one of our most popular instruments. The Finke Europa comes standard with their large bell and unlacquered finish at Houghton Horns, but can be changed upon request.

Playing Characteristics

The Finke Europa offers the tonal depth, flexibility, and balance commonly associated with significantly more expensive professional instruments. The sound is centered and resonant, and the instrument remains flexible enough to allow a wide range of colors and musical expression. The Europa responds easily while maintaining the depth and character expected from a traditional German-style horn, making it well suited for orchestral, chamber, and advanced solo playing. This level of refinement and performance makes the Europa an outstanding choice for players seeking a true professional-level horn that delivers exceptional value without compromise.

About Finke Horns

Finke Horns was founded by Helmut Finke, whose background as both a mechanical engineer and professional musician shaped the company’s commitment to precision and acoustical excellence. Since the early 1950s, Finke has focused on building high-quality brass instruments, later specializing in French horns and working closely with the Physical Technical Institute in Braunschweig to refine response, intonation, and tonal balance.

A defining feature of Finke Horns is the decision to manufacture all major components in-house. Bells, valves, and crooks are produced within the workshop, allowing for exceptional quality control and continuous development—an approach followed by only a small number of makers worldwide.

Today, the family-run company is led by Johannes Finke and his wife, Argentine hornist Mariela Rodriguez Finke. Together with a highly trained team, they continue more than 70 years of tradition, producing instruments that preserve the classic German Waldhorn sound while meeting the demands of modern players. The Finke Europa reflects this legacy through its balance of craftsmanship, performance, and value.
