The C190SL229C was developed with Esteban Batallán, Principal Trumpet of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. It's modeled on the 1955 Mt. Vernon C trumpets Vincent Bach built for the CSO and Symphony Hall, most notably the horn played by Adolph "Bud" Herseth, the orchestra's Principal Trumpet from 1948 to 2001.

A narrow wrap, narrow Z braces, and a lighter Mt. Vernon weight #229 bell with a French-style bead give it quick response, easy playability, and a vibrant sound that projects from the stage to the back of the hall. Short 1st and 3rd slides give you extra tuning options.

The C190 series is made in Elkhart, Indiana, and includes five C trumpets with distinct build styles, developed with Bach artists including Esteban Batallán (Principal Trumpet, Chicago Symphony Orchestra), Michael Sachs (Principal Trumpet, The Cleveland Orchestra), and soloist Tine Thing Helseth.

What the model number means

  • C means the trumpet is pitched in C.
  • 190 is Bach's premium Stradivarius series, with a two-piece valve casing.
  • S means silver plated.
  • L is the .462" large bore, the most popular bore for Bach C trumpets.
  • 229 is the bell, a little broader than Bach's standard #239.
