The C190SL229X is inspired by Bach's early 1970s Elkhart designs. It uses a reverse Vindabona bore: the horn is a .462" large bore, and the main tuning slide steps down to .459" on its last leg. That gives you the width of a large bore with the efficiency and control of a medium-large. The sound is bright and broad with quick response.
Compared to early Elkhart C trumpets, it plays with a similar feel but better intonation and a fuller sound. A wide wrap, wide Z braces, and a lighter Mt. Vernon weight bell add ring and responsiveness. The C190 series is made in Elkhart, Indiana, and includes five C trumpets with distinct build styles, developed with Bach artists including Esteban Batallán (Principal Trumpet, Chicago Symphony Orchestra), Michael Sachs (Principal Trumpet, The Cleveland Orchestra), and soloist Tine Thing Helseth.
