After 20 years I had to get a new case. I got the MB 9. I like how compact it is, but I was worried about possible bell dings from my mute or leadpipe. The carbon fiber bell protector works great. It protects from any little dings.

While I have not used it yet on an airplane yet, it will be instrumental, (no pun intended 🤣) in keeping my bell safe. I plan on splitting this off and carrying it in an overnight bag—a personal bag using clothing and additional protection under the bell. That way, if the airlines deem the case too wide with the bell, I can pull it out and put it into personal bag with clothing. I will place the bell part under the seat in front of me. Then go ahead and place the horn in the overhead compartment. Houghton was quick and efficient with both questions and shipping.
